Installed/ Fitted Wi-Fi IFE System

The Clarus SAP217-M is a full featured Wi-Fi In-Flight Entertainment (IFE) system solution with an integrated dual band 802.11n/ac Access Point and real time Moving Map application option.

The SAP-217-M system solution is packaged in a small single unit, comparable in size and weight of a typical hard cover publication but offering functions and features otherwise usually seen in significantly higher priced IFE systems many times larger in size and weight.

The Clarus SAP217-M systems are:

  • Easy to deploy without disruption to regular flight operations

      • General Purpose ARINC 429 bus
    • Wiring modification can be implemented during regular maintenance
    • Light-weight, single unit in a small form factor with simple flange mounts

      • May be placed in any space under controlled temperature and pressure

1. Content Hosting & Management System - “Symphony ™”

Wide selection of multi-media content: HD movies, music & games

System’s high capacity SATA III SSD storage enables the airline to offer a wide selection of multi-media content for streaming broadcast via Wi-Fi

  • 100s of HD movies
  • 1,000s of HD songs & music videos
  • Plus, other: TV shows, Documentaries, Games, Blogs, eBooks & Magazines, Shopping etc.
  • Easy content update via Wi-Fi or easily replaceable high capacity (1TB) SSD
2. Custom "Electronic Bill Board" & eCommerce portal

Its’ fully customizable Captive Portal also serves as an electronic billboard, an advertising platform available to a wide range of destination businesses and merchants who may be interested in promoting their services and products to airline’s passengers. Custom configurable advertisement placement.

The system can also host shopping portal offering a wide selection of products and services.

This is a great source of additional, recurring ancillary revenue for the airline.

3. On board flight following (“Moving Map”)

Passengers on board will be able to view their aircraft current position and will have access to additional detailed information at selected Point Of Interest (POI) locations, while in flight on their own Wi-Fi enabled smart phones or tablets.

4. Category 4, 3GPP Quad band LTE data Modem (active only while on ground)

GSM-LTE Modem capable of 150Mbit/s downlink and 50Mbit/s uplink data rates, available for system access while the aircraft is on ground, to enable remote Maintenance Access

5. Secure Cabin Crew Interface

Cabin Crew control enables the crew to pause or stop the IFE system content broadcasts for “Flight Safety” presentations and to set the system to automatically broadcast “Fasten Seatbelts” notices and “Preparations for landing” announcements.

The Cabin Crew are also able to retrieve content and advertisement viewing analytics data and transit them to the designated airlines operations, marketing staff for generating business reports and analysis.

User content selections and advertisement viewing analytics reports may be downloaded at any periodic intervals– daily or weekly.

There will also be an option to use the integrated 4G LTE Data Modem interface to remotely connect to the SAP-217-M units to retrieve the system usage data.

6. Easy Content & Advertisement Management

All the advertisements and multi-media content on the SAP-217-M systems can be managed and updated by airline assigned IFE administration staff at the airlines operational center using the secure administration portal on a System Administration Station.

The updated content set can then be either loaded on to 1 TB SSDs for deployment to all the other SAP-217-M units on the aircraft, replacing the external SSDs on the units; or the content updates can be executed by interfacing directly with the SAP-217-M units via the its Ethernet LAN port, the USB-III port or the Wi-Fi interface.

Installed/ Fitted Wi-Fi IFE & C System

The Clarus SAP217-C is a value packed, fully integrated, Wi-Fi In-Flight Entertainment (IFE) plus, low cost air to ground data communications system.

The SAP-217-C system solution is presented in the same small single unit package, comparable in size and weight of a typical hard cover publication but offering functions and features otherwise usually seen in significantly higher priced IFE systems many times larger in size and weight.

It offers all of the same functionality and features as the Clarus SAP-217-M system and in addition it also provides a low cost, real time aeronautical satellite network based essential air to ground connectivity.

1. SAP-217-C : Significant Additional Functions

With the real time air to ground connectivity, the SAP-217-C offers the following additional functions:

  • In-Flight Text and Email Messaging

    • Passengers on board the aircraft will be able to send and receive Chat (Text) and email messages to their contacts on the ground, using their own iPhones or Android smart phones and tablets, either via the Captive Portal web browser interface, or using Clarus’ custom branded text messaging App, “AeroTxt”.

  • Realtime Credit Card Validation

    • With its integrated satellite based air to ground communication capability, the ecommerce sections can be supported with real time Credit Card validation reporting service .

  • Own Aircraft Tracking

    • The owners and operators of the aircraft equipped with the SAP-217-C will also have the option to track their aircraft’s position via a secure website access on the Internet.
